Noun Clauses (Klause Nomina)

Noun Clauses
(Klausa Nomina)
Pendahuluan
  • Kata kerja pada klausa nomina biasanya diikuti oleh object, objectnya berupa noun phrase (prasa nomina)
     Ex : He  knows     my office
             S       V           O (noun phrase)
  •  Beberapa kata kerjanya diikuti oleh noun clauses (klausa nomina)
     Ex : He        knows  where I work
             S             V        O (noun clause)
  • Note : Phrase adalah kata/kalimat yang tidak memiliki subject dan verba
           Clause adalah kalimat yang memiliki subject dan verba
Noun Clause (klausa nomina) adalah dependent clause (klausa dependent), yaitu kalimat yang tidak bisa berdiri sendiri dan harus terhubung dengan klausa independent.
  • Contoh dalam penggunaan kalimat dengan 8W1H (when, where, who, why, what, whom, which, whose dan how)
a.      When did Rose arrive?
       I don’t know when Rose arrived
b.      Where does she go every Monday?   
       I don’t know where she goes on Monday
c.      Who is that man?                              
       I know who that man is
d.      I wonder why Tina is angry
e.      Can you tell her what I said?
f.       Tell me whom Marie talked to
g.      Can you show me which books are interesting to you?
h.     Whose bag is on my desk? 
      I don’t know whose bag is on your desk
i.       Could you please tell me how much this skirt cost?
  •  Contoh dalam penggunaan kalimat dengan if, whether dan that
a.      Is Joe at home right now?                
      I wonder if Joe is at home right now
      I wonder if Joe is at home or not
b.      I don’t know whether Joe is at home right now
I don’t know whether Joe is at home or not
I don’t know whether or not Joe at home
c.      I believe that Miss Chopra is smart and beautiful lady
I guess  Ø  you know about the story
(That bisa dihilangkan dalam percakapan dan artinya tetap sama)
  • Daftar kata kerja (verb) yang diikuti oleh that – clause



Guess that                 Discover that               Notice that         Suppose that        Agree that                 Assume that                 Believe that       Learn that           Think that                 Feel that                       Discover that     Hear that                    Know that                 Suspect that                 Conclude that    Dream that               Hope that                  Realize that                  Predict that        etc…
